Chapter II: A Twist Of Faith Story

Macy ignored the heat of the sun and continued writing her story on the second page.

Mike's mother started her speech...

To all friends, families, relatives of my only son... I welcome you to his funeral rites. I appreciate those who travelled far just to be with him tonight. I travelled 26 hours by plane just to be here.

Now, i know the answer.... James whispered.

When Mike came into my life it was my happiest. I never have plans to marry, it was Mike who gave meaning to my life. He was 3 yrs old when i adopted him from the orphan. He was so adorable. The orphan head warned me about his condition but i care less because the first time i saw him, he not only caught my attention but also my heart. He was the most quiet among all children in the orphan. On that same day, there were volunteers who visited the orphan and distributed toys to everyone. i will never forget that day when he received the toy from the lady volunteer he smiled and kissed her and when he was about to seat a bully kid took the toy from his hand. He did not do anything, he did not even cry. He just vowed his head and...

Aina was crying... She can't continue her speech any longer. Her heart was in deep pain.

Her brother Jay went up to the stage and brought her a glass of water.

After a few minutes, she continued...

Eversince i got him from the orphan he never failed to make me smile. The orphan head told me to visit his physician for his regular treatment and handed me Mike's hospital records and I confirmed that Mike has Leukemia. That doesn't bothered me and "I follow my heart's desire" to adopt him. We are coming in and out from the hospital to have his regular check up, blood cells monitoring and radiotherapy. It wasn't easy, i was kicked out from different companies because of my absenteeism just to be with him. My family's saving was almost gone because of his medication expenses. We were told by the doctor's that we only have 3 more years to live with him but i refused to accept because i know God will perform miracles on him. When he turned 6, i was right, God indeed made mirales in my son's life. All of us in the family were happy. I was thinking to send him to school but i just decided not to, because i am afraid that he will be teased by his classmates and his body may not respond well in class but we saw as early as 3 that he wanted to study. He asked books from me instead of toys. I never taught him how to read but one day he said, mom do you want me to read the book you gave me? I was surprised because the book that i was buying that time was mostly composed of pictures, never did i notice i picked a story book and to my surprise he read the entire book! I knew that he is a smart kid because he amazed me with unexpected things eversince he came to my life. On his 8th birthday the whole family decided to send Mike to school. We believed that he is a fighter by surpassing the life expectancy given to him by the doctors... Mike continously undergo his regular check up and treatment, the cancers cells never left his body but we continued to pray for God's miracles to extend the life of my only son. When he turned 10 and on his 1st grade i decided to go abroad to continue financing his treatment and medication. I can no longer deny that the expenses to cure my son became a heavy burden to my family. I decided to apply as a receptionist abroad. It wasn't easy to leave my son, it was the hardest decision i made in my life but i need to do it for the sake of Mike.

Aina again cried... This time she went down from the stage because she can no longer speak and control her emotions. She went straight where her mom and brother were seated.

Jay stood up and went to the stage to announce that Michael's body is ready for viewing.

Visitors started to fall in line to have a glimpse of Mike's physical body. Dave and James stood and lined up together with the other visitors. It took them a while before they viewed Mike's body because there were some who stayed in front of his casket to pray. James left the things he brought for Mike below his casket, his tears fell as he viewed his best friend's face. He thanked him for their time shared together and promised to always pray for his soul. I hope you guide me mate, now that you are an Angel. Don't forget me ok? This is not our last meeting because I will see you in heaven and i hope when that time comes I am still your bestfriend. James cried.

Macy stood up because she was bitten by the small ants in the area where she was sitting. She decided to move to another place so not to interrupt her thoughts.

Where should i go? Suddenly she felt hungry. Macy went to the nearest food chain from the park. She ordered food and went to the corner so she will not be interrupted with the kids playingnear the cashier. As she turned the pieces of paper she's holding to page 3 she stared to the blank page for 10 seconds to compose her thoughts and just started writing the Chapter 3.
