Aina was preparing to go to her Son's funeral then she thought of something.
I should go back to the orphanage to let Cindy know what happened to Mike. I know Mike will be happy if the people he once with will visit him.
Jay, please accompany me to the orphanage to bring them the news. I know my son will be happy if he see them coming. I hope Cindy is still the head of the orphan. Common, lets give it a try.
They travelled for 2 hours going back to the orphange where they adopted Michael. The orphan building is a bit old. At the gate, they saw a man standing.
Hi sir, I am Aina... Is Cindy there?
For what purpose mam?
I adopted one of the children here 15 years ago, i was wondering if Cindy is still here.
Please come in mam.
The man shouted... Mom, you have visitors.
An old lady went out from the office, it was Cindy. She didn't recognize Aina.
Hi Cindy, do you remember me? I'm Aina.
Sorry lady, i met a lot of people in the past and with my age now i'm afraid to say.... I can't remember you anymore.
Few years ago, i adopted one of the kids here. Do you remember Mike? The child with Leukemia?
Aina, sorry to say but all children that are being brought here are disabled and sick. I have few cases in which some of them have cancer. What is the full name of your child?
Prior to me adopting Mike his name is Michael Levin, then i changed his last name to mine.
Oh yeah, i remember him. So how was he?
He died 4 days ago for the same reason. We tried our very best to prolong his life but unfortunately.... Tears fell from her eyes...
Aina, I'm so sorry to hear that. Where is Mike's funeral? I will visit him together with my ladies here.
Aina and Jay left the orphanage with high hopes that Cindy will visit Michael.
Brother, do you think they will come tomorrow?
Well, Cindy is already old and I'm not sure how will they go there but let's hope for the best.
It was already the last funeral night of Mike. Aina was waiting outside, she forgot to ask the contact no. Of Cindy to confirm if they will be coming. Classmates, relatives and friends were all there. James wasn't there because Dave can't go on leave that day due to a lot of deliverables in the office but Dave promised James that they will be there in Mike's burial since it was scheduled on Saturday.
As Aina was standing outside, a lady wearing a white dress on her 40's entered the gate.
Aina didn't know who she was as the lady went straight to Mike's casket. Cindy asked some of the visitors if they knew the lady but noone knew her. She stayed for an hour infront of Mike's casket. Aina took the courage to approach the lady.
Hi mam, i noticed that you are standing infront of my son for an hour already. I assumed he is important in your life but if I may ask how are you connected to him?
Cindy told me what happened to Michael. Cindy can't come to visit because her feet were swollen due to her diabetis. She asked me to come.
I see. I appreciate you coming here. So you are one of the members in the orphan? Have you seen my child when he was still there?
No, i haven't seen him.
Oh sorry, so you dont know Mike personally?
I know him.
Sorry lady, i don't understand. Were you sent here by Cindy as her representative?
Yes.
Ok good, after you pray please proceed to the kitchenette we have some foods served!
Ok thank you.
The host started to announce that the mass is about to start.
After the mass...
Jay started talking on the stage. To every family members and friends close to Michael, this is now your chance to tell us your experience or unforgettable memoirs with Mike or anything you want to share to everyone present here tonight. The whole night will be dedicated for sharing and we will call it "a Night All About Mike", so to start of I will call on my sister and the mother of Michael, Aina.
After the 3 hours of sharing stories from different people close to Michael, there were no dry eyes from the audience as everyone were moved by the people who shared their different stories about Mike.
Jay ended the night by saying, to everyone who told their stories we appreciate the precious time you shared with our Angel. This will be the last night of him with us...
Jay noticed a lady approaching her in his perisperhal view. The girl whispered if she can have the microphone so she can also tell her own story. Jay gave the microphone to the lady.
To all the loved ones of Michael, this may not be the right time for some of you but I am standing here in front of you to tell my own story i had with Michael. When I was carrying Mike for 9 months I was just alone...
Everyone was shocked! You will hear whispers from left and right. Different face reactions of the visitors was shown to her but she proceeded with her speech.
Noone knew about my condition. I kept it from friends and some relatives because Mike doesn't have a father. When he was born the doctors found out that he had an active cancer cells in his blood. The doctors did not suggest nor allow any treatment or medication for him that time because his body was very young to accept the chemicals used for treating cancer. The doctors said that if they try they can't guarantee me that Mike will survive. The doctors instead recommend that Mike should undergo a monthly check up to monitor his health condition and when Mike was around 6 months old, the doctors confirmed that the cancer cells were gone. For the next 2 years i never see any symptoms as he grew up very healthy. It was a miracle not until he turned 3. He was sent to hospital because i found bruises and blood clots all over his body... The doctors confirmed that his cancer went back. It was more alarming when the doctors said it was already a stage 2 cancer. Being a single parent i can no longer afford his medication so i brought him to the orphanage hoping that another family will love and care for him. I was right when Aina's family adopted my son.
You will see Aina in the audience crying...
I can't find exact words to thank you for taking care of my sick son. Living his life for 15 years is long enough, that only means you did your best Aina as his mother that I did not do to him. Part of my past, i regret when i gave him to the orphanage but when I learned that his new family truly loves him, my heart and mind were at peace. This may also be the right time to tell you that never did i forget about Mike. I visited him few times in school just to see him but never did i approach him. In the hospital I pretended to be Mike's relative, i talked to the doctors on the results of his medical examination. When i learned that Mike needed a blood transfusion from his doctors, I donated my own blood that's why you were being told by the doctors not to look for donors. In the church where you always bring him, i was there too for the entire mass. My sight was only with him and one time when i saw him fell to the ground while walking it was me who helped him and you even thanked me Aina. I know that my son's life in this world is short but i know he is happy with his family that is why i never introduced myself. With all these intention i know that I also did my best as his mother in silence.
Everyone was moved in the audience, it was indeed the best speech they heard that night. Aina went to the stage and hugged her. Both of Mike's mother cried. They knew that their son is happy for he have known his mother on his last day on earth.
Macy finished her food. There was only one blank paper left. She needed to end her story using the last page. She was thinking how to end it. For her an effective writer must know how to write flawlessly basis the flow of the mind. No more thinking because writing for her needs no drafting like walking without direction.
To be continued...
